Clarke County Collective Exhibit

Abigail Gómez is a Latinx visual artist, teaching artist, arts advocate, and the owner and artist of Pretty Girl Painting, a fine art and mural painting business located in the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. She received an MFA in painting from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco CA, and a BFA from Virginia Tech. Artist Statement Ten years ago influenced by the charming illustrations of Calef Brown and animal drawings by outsider artists like Rev. R.A. Miller and Robert Traylor I began a series of whimsical animals and figures that are loosely rendered with thick black outlines borrowing from Chaim Soutine with soft overlapping colors reminiscent of Raoul Dufy and often with exaggerated multifaceted forms existing in a shallow cubist and bent space producing such classics as Whatee, Big Daddy, and Kitty Baby.
