JON GOLDBERG

DIRECTOR OF CLASSICAL MUSIC

Barns of Rose Hill is pleased to be working with Jon Goldberg as our Director of Classical Music Programs.

Mr. Goldberg is currently a Professor of Music at Northern Virginia Community College, Loudoun Campus.  He serves as conductor of the NOVA Chamber Orchestra, as well as teaching music theory and music history.   Mr. Goldberg is also frequently invited to present lectures on musical matters. 

He was a founding member and Music Director of the Endymion Ensemble, 1975-1979, a New York City-based chamber orchestra that for four seasons gave concert series in Carnegie Recital Hall, sponsored by the Carnegie Hall Corporation and the New York State Council on the Arts.  These performances were met with critical acclaim by the New York Times.  

Mr. Goldberg has also conducted the Memphis Symphony, the Oklahoma City Symphony, the El Paso Pro Arte Orchestra, the Doctor’s Orchestra of New York, and the Goldman Band in summer concerts at Lincoln Center. 

He served as Musical Assistant to Leonard Bernstein on his Grammy winning recording of Tschaikovsky’s Symphony #4 with the New York Philharmonic.  Mr. Goldberg began his conducting studies with Carlo Faria, a protégé of Guido Cantelli, and spent two summers as a conducting fellow at the Berkshire Music Center, Tanglewood, on the recommendation of Leonard Bernstein. 

Mr. Goldberg holds a Bachelor of Music, cum laude, from North Texas State University, and a Master of Music from the Manhattan School of Music.  He also completed postgraduate theory studies at the Mannes School of Music.
